being an animator, working on an animated short, i can only see the result of my labour after a very long time and much planning. this is the nature of my trade, can't help it. but in order to balance it up, photography satisfies this aspect pretty well: the results are comparatively much instantanous. guess this is the main reason i 'm drawn into it.

just can't remember how many years since i last went to chinatown during Chinese New Year. my childhood memories of it is kinda like old, dirty & crowded. visiting it again recently, as free labour for my mum 's new year shopping, i find the revamped look feels as artificial as i ve read abt. but prompted by greed, coz of a photographic contest on chinatown, i went bck with my cam. looking at the pics now, i 'm surprised at how colorful & vibrant it has become. artificial or not, it 's no longer the place it used to be. comparatively, it takes me some effort to find those vibrant colors in the city. it 's marvellous indeed, how the camera brings abt such delightful rediscovery.

this roll of film is a mix of subjects ... but it covers my 1st trip to Palau Ubin. but embarrassed to say, i didnt get any great shots there, although i did ve much expectations before going. i like the flash! flash! photo coz of the rich blue late evening sky, with the saturated orange flash lite against it. besides the clorful sunset sky, i find that evening sky like this are very nice too! and my animation is gonna have skies like this in some shots.

always wanted to try the P format of my APS camera because i like compositing pictures with the film format. a lot more information can be feed into the picture with such format but i think only 1 picture above illustrates this well ( Duck Race at Singapore River ). i 'm very lucky to come by this event during my visit to the Sunday Flea Market. besides the APS, i also kill a roll with my lomo. It had been a trully colorful sunday.
:: ILM ranch ::

the only 3 photos i can take in ILM ranch. this is the main building, the only place where photo-taking is allowed. it really looks common, nothing i would have expect the ranch to be liked. to describe my whole impression in simple words, i would say it is just like a Jurassic Park. many thanks to Marjolaine Tremblay-Silva & Miguel Fuertes of ILM for inviting and showing us around the ranch. photos by Miguel Fuertes.

some of the photos i took, most of them are in San Fransisco. 1 thing i realised is that the sky there is almost always cloudless, thus the sunlight is also much stronger. my photos taken in the afternoon all had overexposed sky (it is actaully very beautiful blue sky then). only those in the morning and evening comes put just nice.
